Our friend Niki McBee

I talked with Jason a few minutes ago. Niki died about 3:10 this afternoon in Jason's arms. Jason had called this morning and said Niki was really having a hard time breathing. As the day went on it got worse and worse so Jason took him to the vet and had him gently put to sleep. It is good that he did not have to suffer worse than he was.

Niki has been a wonderful and faithful friend to all of us. He helped Jason through some tough times and enjoyed lots of love and doggie moments with us all. I will always remember how he kept my feet warm and was my companion and comfort through my illnesses and surgery these past years. When he came to Oregon, Niki quickly adopted us all as members of his pack and was always on guard for us. Niki always was ready to go in the car with no questions. He has been a furry friend and brother and will be missed. I can't help but believe that he is now exploring the orchard and raspberry patch in heaven with Grandad. Jason is sad. He had planned to come up tomorrow so we could have a last day with our friend, but his condition deteriorated very rapidly.
