Family!
It's crazy to hear about all the change going on at home and in the world -- from Michael Jackson to BYU lifting the ban on YouTube, it's getting a little unbelievable! Friday afternoon, a guy on the street stopped us randomly and tried really hard to tell us in English that Michael Jackson had died. I didn't really know whether to believe him or not, since people love kidding around with us, but with all the crazy stuff going on, I figured anything could be possible.
Everybody is retiring and getting married and going on big vacations and new mission presidents (He gets here tonight at 9:30). It seems like the only thing that DIDN'T change is the location of Elder Nielsen and I – I'm here until at least the beginning of August. America is getting one year older on Saturday and Nate the Neuron is having Christmas in July. It's bizarre – it's seriously Alice in Wonderland. There's a Portuguese guy next to me watching the Red Green Show... I seriously have no idea what to expect anymore!!!
Sam gets back this month, too! Good grief!
Anyway, since last week, we found a less active member named Cristina Faro who hadn't been to church in a year. I can't claim anything, but she said she had been missing the Church and had started looking at the bus schedules to see if it would work for her to go to church one of these days. We got into the front door of her building when an old lady let us in, and when we knocked on her door we found out that she wasn't going to answer when we rang her doorbell from outside. We got her a ride to church and she's doing pretty well. It's awesome. She retired early and does editing -- she's already edited 3 books and is working on her 4th and 5th. She takes care of her father at home who caused a lot of trouble for her, but we have some really awesome, focused lessons. She's loving coming back to church.
Remember Mesila, the inactive member from the Phillipines we found while knocking? She and another reasonably active member from the Phillipines named Rosemary both stopped answering our calls several weeks ago. We stopped by Rosemary's place yesterday, but she wasn't home, so we talked to her husband and two daughters – one of whom is a member but inactive. We had a pretty good conversation about life and the Plan of Salvation and then Rosemary walked in talking about how nobody was going to make it to the Celestial Kingdom because we all make mistakes and even Moses didn't make it and he only did one thing wrong oh man. It was pretty interesting.
Anyway, I'm basically out of time.
Amor para todos
